We were fortunate to have former NRL star and proud Papua New Guinean international, James Segeyaro, join us today at our captain’s run. His presence brought a surge of energy and inspiration as he trained alongside the Hunters players during our opposed session this morning.

Segeyaro, known for his dynamic playing style and leadership on the field, didn’t just watch from the sidelines—he laced up his boots and got stuck into the action. Sharing his knowledge, experience, and passion for the game, he played an active role in helping sharpen our team’s preparations.

One of the highlights of the morning was a special presentation, as Segeyaro had the honour of presenting a jersey to debutant player, Graham Rex. It was a powerful moment, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Rex’s journey, made even more memorable by having it shared with one of PNG’s most respected rugby league figures.

Segeyaro’s willingness to engage with the players and offer guidance was a strong reminder of the importance of mentorship and the value of experience at the elite level. For our young and developing athletes, it was an incredible opportunity to learn from someone who has competed at the highest levels of rugby league.

We extend our deepest thanks to James for spending time with us and contributing to the team’s development. His visit left a lasting impact and has no doubt fueled the fire within our players as they continue to grow and push forward.
