South Pacific Brewery’s flagship brand, SP Lager, together with the SP PNG Hunters, has announced the launch of the Anti‑Violence Round, reinforcing their commitment to using rugby as a platform to promote positive social messaging.
The Anti‑Violence Round will be marked by the SP PNG Hunters match against the Ipswich Jets on Saturday, 18 April 2026, at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
As naming rights sponsor of the SP PNG Hunters since 2013, SP Lager is leveraging its long‑standing partnership with the club to take a stand against domestic violence and drive meaningful change through a sport that unites communities across Papua New Guinea.
For the match, SP PNG Hunters will wear a special Anti‑Violence Round jersey displaying the campaign messages:
- Join the Generation of Change
- No Excuse for Domestic Violence
Speaking during the launch in Port Moresby today, SP Lager Brand Manager Kitione Amet said, “The purpose of the round is to keep the national conversation around domestic violence visible through sport, community engagement, and high‑reach brand platforms. Rugby league’s unmatched ability to unite families and communities makes the SP PNG Hunters partnership an ideal platform for driving awareness, visibility, and positive conversation.”
SP PNG Hunters Coach and Campaign Ambassador, Paul Aiton, emphasized the values that define the club and its strong support for the campaign.
“At the SP PNG Hunters, our values are simple and strong: faith, family, and footy. These values guide how we play, how we lead, and how we live.”
He added that these values make the SP PNG Hunters an advocate for the cause.
“This is why the SP PNG Hunters are proud to support SP Lager’s anti‑violence campaign and to use our flagship partnership to help drive real change.”
Highlighting the importance of collective responsibility, Aiton said the message of the round is clear.
“This Anti‑Violence Round is about sending a clear message: violence has no place in our families, our game, or our country.”
“As Hunters, we commit to being leaders in our communities, supporting awareness, speaking out, and encouraging safer choices. Together with SP Lager, we speak out against domestic violence with a clear message – There are no excuses for domestic violence.”
The collaboration between SP Lager and the SP PNG Hunters demonstrates their shared commitment
to encourage communities to continue meaningful conversations around respect and safety, support stronger families, reinforce positive behavior, and be part of the next generation of change.
