The SP PNG Hunters have celebrated the 2025 season in style and honoured the outstanding contributions of players, staff and partners, at the annual SP PNG Hunters Awards Night which was held at the Stanley Hotel & Suites on Friday October 3rd.

It was a special evening filled with laughter, pride, and camaraderie. Players, staff, partners, and guests came together to reflect on the year and enjoy each other’s company. The highlight of the night was seeing the players take the stage to celebrate their individual and team achievements—moments that truly showcased the spirit and unity of the wider Hunters family.

The big awards of the night, the Player’s Player and Player of the Year went to a very deserving Sanny Wabo who received tremendous applause from all in attendance. Sanny said in his acceptance speech “I want to thank God first of all, the coaching staff and management, not forgetting our sponsors. And to my boys, we’ve been through it all together. Not forgetting my wife and daughter. This award is the reward for all the hard work and sacrifice we did this season. Thank you.”

Under the leadership of Head Coach Paul Aiton, the team once again has proven to be a top 4 contender in the Host plus Cup competition for much of the season, beating all top 8 teams but the Dolphins, who ultimately ended their season in a hard fought finals match.

CEO Scott Barker commented, “I am proud of the team’s performance. Our year-on-year improvement has been evident for all to see and tonight’s awards reflect the depth we have in the squad. I am immensely proud of the entire organization and am looking forward to next season already.”

The SP PNG Hunters would like to extend our gratitude to our corporate partners, loyal supporters, families, friends and all who contributed one way or another towards the success of the club in 2025. We look forward to doing it all again next season.
