The PNG Hunters will finally take the field against the Mackay Cutters this weekend in a highly anticipated Round 1 clash that was postponed earlier in the season.

Originally scheduled to be the opening game of the 2025 Hostplus Cup, the match was delayed due to the impact of Tropical Cyclone Alfred, which swept through parts of Queensland in early March.

Now rescheduled for Saturday, 19th April, at BB Print Stadium in Mackay, the game marks an important moment for both sides as they look to gain early momentum in the competition.

The Hunters are currently sitting on the 7th place with 6points and the Cutters not far off in 11th with 4points, there is not a lot separating the two sides.

The Hunters, known for their physicality and flair, will be eager to make a strong statement on the road, while the Cutters will be aiming to capitalise on home ground advantage.

Despite the delay, anticipation around this matchup has only grown, with fans from both camps looking forward to what promises to be an intense and exciting showdown.

Kick-off is at 3pm at BB Print Stadium. We hope to draw strong support from the local PNG community and the viewers watching online/tvwan as well.
